With over 30 years playing experience, and over 11 years of competitive coaching experience, Peter Carey will be going into his seventh year as the head coach at San Juan Hills High School.
Carey is also an assistant coach at Irvine Valley College with the men's & women’s program since 2009. He is also the director for the California Premier League and Capistrano F.C. club programs since 2006.
He previously coached boys soccer at Capistrano Valley High School from 2008-2011, was the Capistrano Valley Christian girls varsity head coach from 2007-2008 and has also worked at the Chivas USA Academy, and with the San Juan Soccer League.
As a youth, Carey played for the Original San Clemente Soccer Club coached by Clyde Best (West Ham United), Martin McGrogan (Coventry), Paul Cahill (Portsmouth), and Laurie Abrahams (Charlton Athletic). He also played at San Clemente High School coached by Mike Pronier.
After High School, Coach Carey joined the United States Marine Corps where he proudly severed with Marine Light Helicopter Squadron 267 (HMLA – 267), from 1994-1999.
Carey currently holds a USSF National C, NFHS Certs, and NSCAA coaching licenses.
Tommy Casarrubias has over 18 years of playing experience and has been coaching competitively for over 5 years. This will be Casarrubias’s 5th year at San Juan hills. He spent two years with the Frosh Soph team, and 1 year with Junior Varsity, and this will be his 2nd year with Varsity, working alongside Coaches Peter Carey and Marcos Cervantes.
As a youth Tommy didn't start playing club until 13 where he played for Laguna Niguel Soccer Club. Then at 14 he transferred to Capistrano FC where he played 5 years and was a State Champion. He also played Varsity for Capistrano Valley High school where he was a CIF finalist. Tommy is currently playing for Orange Coast College. He will play there for one more season, and then plans on transferring to a four year university to continue his soccer career while majoring in Kinesiology.
Marcos Cervantes is a San Juan Hills Alumni Class of 2011, where he played varsity all four years. Coach Cervantes has over 5 years of coaching experience, and over 16 years of playing experience. Coach Cervantes is currently playing at Irvine Valley College, and will be transferring to play at a 4-year school in the fall of 2017.
As a youth, Cervantes has won multiple club tournaments, including a state champion is 2009. He also has experience playing at a high level, playing with the youth team for Tijuana Xolos and Chivas USA.

Coach Jim Lorenzen has been coaching youth soccer for 12 years with an emphasis on goalkeeping for the last 8. Coach Jim is entering his 5th year with the San Juan Hills Soccer program.
Coach Jim currently provides private goalkeeping lessons in Orange County for players of all age levels. He also runs coaching clinics for coaches to develop and improve on the fundamental understanding of goalkeeping.
This past year Coach Jim received a certificate from USA Weightlifting for Group Exercise Strength and Conditioning. He is in the process of obtaining his CrossFit Level 1 certificate. He holds an E coaching license, NFHS and NSCA Goalkeeping Level 2 certificate.
