Stallions to Host Edison

The CIF Southern Section Selection Committee has announced that the San Juan Hills Stallions will host the Edison Chargers in the First Round of the CIF SS Playoffs on Friday, November 2nd at 7:00 PM.

The San Juan Hills Stallions return to the gridiron on Friday, November 2nd to play host to the Edison Chargers in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Playoffs.

The Stallions were awarded the first round home game by virtue of their finish atop the Sea View League, which included wins against Trabuco Hills (56-10), Aliso Niguel (38-0), Dana Hills (49-0), and Laguna Hills (41-14).  The Chargers make their way into the 2018 playoffs following a 5-5 regular season with a 3rd place 3-2 finish in the Sunset League.

This game will be the second meeting of the season between the two teams, who met first on September 7th at San Juan Hills Stadium, with the Chargers coming away with a 33-14 win in a strong second half performance in which they overcame a 7-0 halftime deficit.  This time around, Edison will face a San Juan Hills squad that has evolved offensively behind quarterback Hudson Jones (sophomore), receivers Brigham Hill (senior), and Joey Hobert (junior), running backs Chase Monarch (senior) and Austin Hogan (junior), and a line anchored by 4-star offensive tackle Sean Rhyan (senior).  On the defensive side of the ball, the Stallions will continue to showcase seniors Cade Albright, Case Ostrom, and Darius Jackson, as well as juniors Joey Hobert and Tyler Wegis.

The Chargers will be led offensively by sophomore quarterback Braeden Broyles, who has played in relief of senior quarterback Patrick Angelovic, who was injured in the first contest between these two teams.  Broyles will be joined in the backfield by near-1,000 yard rusher Kobe Lopez (senior), and flanked by receivers Cole Koffler (junior), and Nathan Nabal (senior).  The Edison defense will be anchored by seniors Luke Hoggard, Cameron Eden, Isaiah Palmer, and juniors Mike Walters and Trent Fletcher.

Look for the Stallions to have the edge this time around, with explosive special teams, a stingy defense, and an offense that has found its rhythm since turning to Jones as their signal caller.
