The Register’s Orange County Football Defensive Player of the Week:
Name: Carson Lewis
School: San Juan Hills
Year: Senior
Noteworthy: He had two interceptions, including one returned for a touchdown, in the Stallions’ 56-10 win over Trabuco Hills. Lewis (6-3, 172), a senior defensive back, also had six tackles, a fumble recovery and a pass deflection. He has a team-high four interceptions with 41 tackles this season. San Juan Hills coach Robert Frith said Lewis, who has a 4.0 grade-point average, plays with smarts and instincts. “What makes him so special,” Frith said, “is his ability to read the quarterback and have a sense for where the football is going to be. With his experience, his intelligence and his dedication in the film room Carson is a very special player.” Lewis was All-South Coast League second team last season.
