Ambitious, relentless and talented.

All three are appropriate adjectives to describe Manly United’s exciting US import Anjel Brown.

The 22-year-old, who scored her first goal for the club recently against the Emerging Jets, wants to play in the W-League this summer.

She arrived at Cromer Park firmly believing she could take her game to new heights playing under coach Chris Williams.

“I did my research and Chris was the type of coach I wanted to play under,” Brown said.

“He pushes, but also encourages.

“It (Manly) is a very talented squad, I’m loving being a part of it.”

Brown’s football pedigree is impressive.

She represented the University of South Carolina in 2013 before moving on to Santa Clara University in California.

After completing her degree in bioengineering, the defender played football in Sweden and then again relocated, this time to Australia.

“I was living on the Gold Coast, but it was a new team who are a few years away from being a powerhouse,” Brown said.

“When the opportunity came up to move to Sydney and play at a high level, I jumped at it.”

Brown is residing in Narrabeen and working locally.

Understandably, she is loving the laid back lifestyle.

With her visa set to expire in January, Brown knows she has to excel for Manly with W-League scouts potentially watching.

“Ultimately that is why I’m here, playing in the W-League has been a goal of mine for ages,” she said.

“I’ll keep working hard, I’m always looking for different ways to improve my game.”
