Outfielder Maddie Riley will bring plus-grade athleticism and a plethora of servant-leadership experience to Biola Softball.

LADERA RANCH, Calif. --- You only need a quick look through Maddie Riley's resume and accolades to see why Biola Softball is excited about her commit to the program for the 2021 season.

Riley fits so many of the program's values: she has the athleticism and speed to play the middle infield and outfield positions, and play them well, while getting on base with regularity; she has a strong commitment to her Christian faith that she has demonstrated through her participation in international missions trips and in high school christian clubs; and she has held leadership positions on her softball teams and in several extracurriculars.

Riley is coming off of an 16U Premier Girls Fastpitch National Championship with Monarchs Softball this past summer and still has one more high school varsity season ahead of her at San Juan Hills High School. But she's excited about her coming opportunity to play for PacWest titles with the Eagles while studying as a communication sciences and disorders major at Biola helps her prepare for a career as a speech language pathologist:

"I chose Biola because I wanted to attend a university where Christ was the center of both softball and academics," said Riley. "I am most excited to make lasting friendships and relationships here as well as to strengthen my faith. When I first walked on campus, I knew it was the right school for me because it felt like home."

After playing as a starter for the Stallions over the past two varsity seasons, Riley carries a .314 career batting average into the 2020 season according to MaxPreps.com. She won a Sea View League Championship with SJHHS her junior year and has been named a defensive MVP and team captain during her time at San Juan Hills.

Away from the diamond, Riley founded and serves as president for her school's Good Buddies club and is a Co-Vice President of her Fellowship of Christian Athletes chapter. And in addition to all these activities and her student-leadership roles at her church, Riley has maintained a 4.2 grade point average that has made her a four-year member of the California Scholarship Federation and a four-year scholar athlete.

Following the completion of her studies at San Juan Hills, Maddie Riley will join her new teammates at Biola in August 2020. More information on the incoming 2020-21 class that will join her at Biola can be found on the Committed Athletes page.
