We heard rumblings over the summer that the Stallions might be formidable but took a wait and see attitude with Jessica Papell’s team, as did the Orange County Register, which ranked them eighth in the county in the pre-season. Well, we didn’t have to wait long to see how good San Juan Hills is. Led by Madi Mercer and Katie Lukes, the team throttled both Huntington Beach and Edison to reach Monday’s finals of the Dave Mohs Memorial Tournament before falling to No. 2 Mater Dei in straight sets.
